The Brilliance of Life Continues
The last couple of years have been amazing in terms of mental peace and physical fitness (I completely belong to IIT and Powai and Bombay, don't I!), but the last 8 days have been awesome! I have hit into top gear, and I can only thank David and Prathamesh for doing their job at the shop so well ... leaving me with absolutely no work to do. Here's a list of all that I managed to do in the last 8 days:
Monday:
Ran a 5k. Reverse crossy route in IIT. Less than 20 minutes. Medium strides and torturing sprints. No aimless, lazy jogging. Will touch my best timing (16:59) soon. Calves of both the legs were fucked. By consent. Felt good.
Tuesday:
Resumed Ultimate with the Storm Chasers - the Mumbai Ultimate team. At the Juhu Beach. On Sand. Sprinted, shuffled, shunted, shuttled. All on sand. Calves of both the legs were raped. Felt great! The Storm Chasers rock!
Wednesday:
Resumed isometric training. Upper body. Abdomen. Chest. Biceps. Triceps. Charles Atlas rocks! body hurts.
Thursday:
Resumed Pranayam. Why the hell did I ever stop! Went to play an MDFA league game with the IIT team. Got a bye. Popat!
Friday:
Second isometric session. Awesomized! Started waking at 4am.
Saturday:
Skipped football. Instead, went for Ultimate. Bid adieu to Lucas and Rupesh. Welcomed Erik. Started with backhand and forehand drills - supervised by Rob. Played a 6-on-6 game. Again ... sand. Again ... calves fucked. Follwed by the 'suicide' drill and planks. That killed me. Followed by a gang-breakfast. What a group!
Rushed back home. Caught my train to Pune. Hugged Bharat, hello-ed Mittal. Mocked Rane. Had an amazing 4-5 hours board-games session. I hate them. So much!
Sunday:
Lazed around. Went with Bharat to play with the Pune Ultimate team. Met Partha, met ankit. Nice people. Had loads of fun. Came back, saw Rooney score. Saw Torres score. Saw Rooney miss. Say Torres miss. Felt awesome. Slept awesome - like a log!
Monday:
Returned to Mumbai. Resumed football. Coached the insti goal-keepers. Resumed volleyball. Drilled with insti volley team. Met Edwin Sir. He's God. Met Jha Sir. He's God too!
Tuesday:
Resumed waking up at 4am. Resumed Pranayam. Resumed Ultimate at Juhu with Storm Chasers. Met Mamaji and mamiji after months! Played a satisfying, rewarding, yell-full volley game against the insti team. Beat them! And now blogging. As I see Leeds vs. Man Utd. Dead tired. No, really. And Owen scores!! It's 0-1 :)
I realise that this list misses mention of a decent football game with the YVFC. And yet, it all feels so good! Can't wait for my next football game ... can't wait.
Ok ... am really screwed. My eyes are burning, and if I don't have water soon, I would have a sleepless, crampful night. So tudu ... !

Idiots Love Idioms!
Play by Ear
When I first heard this phrase (that was yesterday, when I finally downloaded and watched the movie ... oops ... the brilliant Korean movie, "In Mood For Love" ... recommended vehemently by Parle urf Prateek Mehta), I thought that probably a word was missing. Grammatically, it should have been, "Play by the ear", no? I thought may be the subtitles guy had got it wrong ...
A little bit of etymology research revealed that the phrase was first spoken in the Shakespearean era ... and I would rather not talk about the grammatical ways of those times. So, "Play by ear" it is!
The phrase holds a similar meaning to the phrase, "Cross the bridge when it comes" ... as in, act impromptu as per the situation's demands ...
Neat, methinks! Next time someone asks me about my plans regarding whatever, I would probably be blahing, "Hmmm ... no plans ... I'll play by ear ... " ... and then show-off at length about my love for idioms/figures-of-speech ... :P
